The documentary “Manaki” tells the story of the first Balkan cinematographers Janaki and Milton Manaki. The film’s narrative begins in Ionnina, where the Manaki brothers spent their childhood and part of their youth. The story follows the brothers as they open their first professional studio in 1898 and later move to Bitola, now known as the city of the Manaki brothers. Told through original documentary photographs, “Manaki” carries its audience back in time and offers an authentic look into the lives of the two legendary filmmakers.
